About Us
Objects of the Association
- To encourage and promote study and research into the causes, prevention, effects and treatment of crime.
- To promote co-operation between bodies, or persons engaged in any research or work or activity having obectives similar to those of the Association.
- Through the activities of branches and other opportunities for public meeting and debate, to create a space for learning and exchange between academics, professionals and volunteers interested in the criminal justice system.
To fulfill our objectives, SASO organises an annual conference which brings together a wide range of people involved in the Scottish criminal justice system and reflects the diversity of the Association's membership. In this way and by listening, talking and sharing experience, we aim to achieve a better understanding of our common problems and challenges.
SASO also supports a network of local branches across Scotland. Each branch organises a programme of autumn/winter local meetings and on-line events which are open to all SASO members and supporters.
